OUR LATEST GRANTS PROMOTE LOCAL ARTS, HEALTH CARE AND EDUCATION

The Gay Community Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation awarded grants totaling $5,980 to four Greater Akron nonprofit organizations. The Akron Community Foundation board of trustees ratified the grants Fri., Dec. 1 at its quarterly meeting.
The following grants were awarded:
Diversity Alliance of Stark County, Inc., for the Domestic Violence Response Initiative, $300
Fusion Magazine, which strives to unify people of different backgrounds and orientations, for production and expanded circulation, $2,000
Portage Path Community Mental Health Center, for GLBT Pride for Life, an education and support group, $1,680
Violet's Cupboard Inc., in collaboration with the Community AIDS Network, to expand HIV counseling and testing, $2,000
Last year was the group’s first grant-giving year. In total, the fund has reinvested $14,980 into local nonprofit initiatives promoting tolerance and well-being in the Greater Akron area.
